„The Bulgarian gas transmission operator will continue to work with other operators in the region to improve the gas transmission route product from Greece to Ukraine. Our objective is for it to function in the proposed form for the next six months, and then to be even more attractive and operate in the long term“. These are the words of the Executive Director of Bulgartransgaz EAD Vladimir Malinov during his participation in a meeting of the gas operators from the region during the Ministerial Meeting of the Central and South-Eastern Europe Energy Connectivity Initiative CESEC in Bucharest, Romania.
Within the discussion, the participants discussed the integration of the natural gas market and the use of the infrastructure to guarantee the supply over the 2025/2026 winter season.
As Malinov said the application of the product will enable Ukraine to guarantee its energy security both during the current winter season and in the future by receiving secure supplies from reliable sources such as the USA and others. He stressed that the mechanism already proposed is of interest to the market. „As a result of the November auction for the route product for gas transmission from Greece to Ukraine, over 31% of the offered available capacity has been reserved by three international companies“, Malinov underlined.
The benefits of the implementation of the Vertical Corridor, which is already under construction on the Bulgarian territory and through which liquefied natural gas from secure sources such as the USA and others will supply the region of South-Eastern Europe, reaching Moldova and Ukraine, were discussed.
